Life at the MDP: Lessons, Laughs, and Finding Our Feet
Our first morning at the MDP seems like a distant memory now as we settle into our tenth week of term!
As an MDP family of 27, we’ve shared laughs, sweet treats, bonding time, and yes, the occasional tear (because who hasn’t cried over a Gantt chart at least once?). While the first few weeks felt like an avalanche with learning sets, projects, research, and lectures, we’re finally finding our feet. There’s never a dull moment at the MDP!
Since settling in, we’ve learned countless lessons, and we thought, why not share some of the golden nuggets with you?
1. Adaptability is Key
No two days are the same at the MDP. One minute, you’re briefing for a client project, and the next, you’re knee-deep in research or planning an event. Being flexible is the name of the game—and let’s just say, we’re now adaptability ninjas.
2. Dress to Impress
If you look good, you feel good! The MDP is unlike any other master’s program—formal attire is a daily requirement. Gone are the days of hoodies and sweatpants. But hey, we’ve come to embrace the power of a good blazer.
3. The Fine Art of Balancing Time
Juggling sports, family, friends, and work isn’t just a skill; it’s a superpower. At the MDP, time management isn’t optional—it’s survival. But finding time to unwind is just as important as hitting deadlines. After all, even superheroes need a break!
4. Organisation is Your Best Friend
If you think you can survive the MDP without a diary or planner, think again. Working with real-life clients who count on you means staying ahead of deadlines isn’t a suggestion—it’s mandatory. Plus, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as ticking off a to-do list.
So, that’s a glimpse into what we’ve learned so far! Looking back, we can’t believe how much we’ve grown—both as individuals and as a team. Even on the toughest days at the MDP, there’s always a reason to laugh, smile, and grab another coffee.
Stay tuned for more of our adventures (and lessons learned) at the MDP. Trust us, we’ve only just begun!
